Diploma apostille in Maryland

University, college and high school diplomas from Maryland schools.

Route: Notarized by your school's registrar, signed before a Maryland notary public → Clerk of the Circuit Court certification → Maryland Secretary of State apostille → shipped to you

Employers, universities and licensing boards abroad commonly ask for an apostilled diploma, especially for teaching jobs and work visas.

Maryland cannot apostille the original diploma directly. The usual route is a notarized copy: your school's registrar signs a statement that the copy is true and correct in front of a Maryland notary, or the registrar issues a notarized letter verifying your degree.

Because the document is notarized, it then needs certification from the Clerk of the Circuit Court in the county where the notary is commissioned before the Secretary of State will add the apostille. We handle both steps.

Do I need to send the original document?

Yes. The apostille is physically attached to the original certified copy or notarized document. Photocopies cannot be apostilled.

Does the apostille translate my document?

No. The apostille only certifies the signature and seal. Many countries require a certified translation of the document, and sometimes of the apostille, done in the destination country. Check with the office that will receive it.
